Transportation
Modes of Transport
You can fly into Logan International Airport; take the Amtrak; take a bus, including the
$15 Chinatown bus from New York City; or drive a car. There is free parking at the Hyatt Place and
Springstep. The subway system within Boston is good and can take you within walking distance of the
Thursday milonga at MIT, but you'll need to either drive or take a bus to get to Medford for Springstep
and the Hyatt Place.
Once you've made it into Boston, you can get around by car, subway and bus, or by cab. A cab
from Logan airport to Medford (for Springstep and the Hyatt Place) should cost about $30. Read on for
driving directions and public transportation routes to the festival venues.
If you have any questions about getting to or around Boston, contact our hospitality
chair, Juliet Droege, at <jltdrg at yahoo.com>, or 919-672-5843.

To Springstep and Hyatt Place -
Click Here for MapSpringstep and Hyatt Place are right by the Medford City Hall, and next to exit 32
off I-93. Take I-93 to Exit 32 (Route 60). If coming from Logan Airport or Boston/Cambridge then
get onto I-93 N.
To take public transportation from Logan Airport to MIT or to Medford for Springstep and the
Hyatt Place, jump onto a Silver Line bus to South Station. At South Station, follow the directions
below as if you arrived on a bus. Most buses arriving in Boston will drop you off at South Station.
South Station is also one of the major subway (called the "T" here) stops, so it's easy
to continue on public transportation from there. Here's the route the
MBTA Trip Planner suggests to get to MIT and Medford from South Station: Please note that public transportation does not run in the wee hours of the night. It stops around
12 or 1am and resumes service between 5 and 6am, so if you're planning on relying on public transportation,
do consult the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority
website to plan your trips. Here are some good Medford bus routes: The nearest T stop is Central Square on the Red Line. To get to the Student Center from Central
Square, walk South on Massachusetts Avenue for about 10-15 minutes. When you get to Vassar Street, you're
at MIT. On the right side of the street just ahead you'll see a low 1970s building - that's the
Student Center. You'll know it's the correct building if you see a big, beautiful old building with
2-story high columns just across the street. The milonga is on the second floor, so head up the stairs. All of the buses listed above have a stop within a block or two of Springstep and the Hyatt
Place. Some of them drop you off on Salem St. and some on Riverside Ave. When planning your bus trip
be sure to note where the bus drops you off and then consult the map to orient yourself.
From I-93 N:
At the bottom of the exit ramp, enter the rotary and take the 3rd exit onto RT-60 W/
From I-93 S:
At the bottom of the exit ramp, enter the rotary and take the 1st exit onto RT-60 W/
As you're about to exit the rotary you can see Springstep on your left. Take your first left onto
River Street. At the end of the block turn left onto Riverside Avenue. Turn left onto Clipper Ship
Drive. Hyatt Place is just to your right and Springstep is straight ahead. You can pretty much park
anywhere you see -- in the spots under and in front of the building, along the street, or in the
municipal lots nearby. If you're staying at the hotel, park in the hotel lot.
