JHCC is within walking distance of the MBTA - Green Line (Copley) and Orange Line (Back Bay). Take Dartmouth St. to Tremont St. and turn right. After a few blocks, turn left onto W. Newton St. JHCC will be on your left.

Accommodations...

A limited amount of free housing with local tango dancers was available, but I'm sorry to say it's pretty much all full! But if you don't mind a floor or a 40-minute drive, email tova at morenotango dot com to see if we still have anything.

Selection of Hotels/Hostels

See Frommer's list of Boston hotels for price range and other helpful information.
TRY www.priceline.com to cheap rooms at nice hotels. I've heard that you can get rooms for around $60/night. Not bad for Boston!

Note that the accomodations get more expensive as you move down the list...

Extras and Restaurants...

CAMBRIDGE
This website inmansquare.com, has info about locally-owned businesses in Inman Square - where Ryles, Zeitgeist, and Extreme Dancesport sit - and even a weather report. Notable businesses there are:

Urban Oasis offers massage therapy and hot tubs in Inman Square, just around the corner from Zeitgeist Gallery and Ryles Jazz Club, and a short walk from Extreme Dancesport. As they say, "Whether you are coming in to unwind from a hard day's work[shop!], restore flexibility to your aching joints, or just to hang out, have fun and relax with a group of friends, time in a hot tub at Urban Oasis is an ideal way to relieve your stress." Let's go - they have an OPEN HOUSE on October 29 and 30. Imagine - treats, tours, free soaks in the community tub, free chair massages, door prizes and discounts on gift certificates!
243 Hampshire Street behind Rosie's Bakery (if you are at the corner of Cambridge and Beacon or Cambridge and Hampshire you are very, very close)
Fri-Sat 10am -midnight, Sun 10am -9pm 617-491-0176

Recommended Cambridge Restaurants (in no particular order)
Rosie's Bakery, right next to Urban Oasis (but with shorter hours!), Rosie's is the best place to get treats - cookies, muffins, bars, cakes. Dee-licious!
243 Hampshire Street (if you are at the corner of Cambridge and Beacon or Cambridge and Hampshire you are very, very close)
Fri 7:30am-7:30pm Sat 8am-7:30pm Sun 8:30am-6pm 617-491-9488

Go straight to the S&S Restaurant for breakfast, or come to the Tango Show and Brunch - you'll get the same tasty food either place! They also have an extensive lunch and dinner menu, so if you're having trouble deciding what to eat, go here for variety.
1334 Cambridge Street (right across from Zeitgeist Gallery)
Fri-Sat 8am to midnight, Sun 8am to 10pm 617-354-0777

Punjabi Dhaba Indian Road-side Cafe is a great place to go for quick, cheap, yummy Indian food. They say it's "the most wonderfully scrumptious food you will ever eat." Don't go for the ambiance, though.
225 Hampshire Street
Call ahead for take-out 617-547-8272

Dali Restaurant is owned and run by an Argentinian/Russian pair. This Spanish tapas restaurant is one of Boston's favorite restaurants, always nabbing a high Zagat rating and consistently bursting with loyal patrons. Be prepared to wait before being seated - they don't take reservations.
415 Washington Street (at Beacon Street)
Call for hours 617-661-3254
Average price (Zagat) $31

Ole Mexican Grille serves authentic Mexican food - not the kind you get at most "Mexican" restaurants here in America (which is really Tex-Mex), but the kind you'd find in an incredibly beautiful and scrumptious restaurant in Mexico. A feast for your eyes and mouth.
11 Springfield Street (between Beacon and Cambridge Streets)
Open every evening for dinner 617-492-4495
Average price (Zagat) $22

Magnolia's New Southern Cuisine - get fried green tomatoes and other Southern comfort food in great ambiance. You'll want everything on the menu!

Open 6-10pm Tues. - Sat. *Closed Sunday.* 617-576-1971
Average price (Zagat) $30

Argana - Moroccan Mediterranean Restaurant. A Boston Phoenix reviewer says of it, "Here’s a restaurant with delicious, exotic food for not a lot of money. Moreover, the setting is beautiful.", but cautions, " Service at Argana still needs to catch up to the restaurant’s early success." Full review here.
1287 Cambridge Street (near Zeitgeist Gallery)
Open daily 5pm - 11pm; bar until 1am 617-868-1247

Oleana - a Middle Eastern inspired restaurant with many accolades, most recently Best Chef Northeast by the James Beard Foundation 2005. Seems that you can't go wrong here, except by making a smallish hole in your pocket book.
134 Hampshire Street (between Columbia and Prospect Streets)
Open every evening for dinner, call after 3pm for info and reservations 617-661-0505
Average price (Zagat) $39

Casa Portugal - 2002 Zagat review (sans their quotation marks): "As close to a night in Portugal as you'll find in Inman Square, this unpretentious, neighborhood institution earns praise...don't expect anything top-shelf, but the fare is delicious, authentic and affordable."
1200 Hampshire Street (between Prospect and Tremont Streets)
Fri-Sat 3-11pm, Sun 3-10pm 617-491-8880
Average price (Zagat) $22

B-side Lounge
- New American fare that's "more creative than you normally get in a bar" says my Zagat Guide, which also reports that it gets packed and can be very noisy with all those raucous MIT folks.
92 Hampshire Street (at Windsor Street)
Call for hours 617-354-0766
Average price (Zagat) $25

SOUTH END Restaurants - before (or after if you're quick) The End Milonga at Jorge Hernandez Cultural Center
The South End, like Inman Square, has a lot of great, highly-rated restaurants. This website has a big list of 'em. Some of the ones we'd recommend on the more expensive end are Aquitaine, The Red Fez, Tremont 647, and Hamersley's Bistro. For palatte-pleasing options that won't dig in to your pocket-book quite so much go for Claremont Cafe (owned and run by a tango lover!), House of Siam (for your Thai fix), and Picco Pizza and Ice Cream Company.

BOSTON Late night and/or early Sunday morning
News Cafe - serves everything from sandwiches and salads to sushi to pizza to serious hunks of meat to breakfast all night! And it's the only place we've found in Boston's puritan pavement that's open after 2am...
